Here I will show some tips on how to grow a plant. The first thing you want to do is make sure that you have good soil full of nutrients. When you plant the seed, make sure that there is only about 1/4 of an inch of soil above it. Now make sure that you have food and water for your plant, these are living things too, just like humans. Next, make sure that there is no weeds in  your soil. "Weeds rob your seedlings of nutrients and water, and make them look bad". Next, when the seedling just sprouts, make sure the soil is always moist, this is one of the most important times in the plants life. Once it grows, make sure you remove the dead leaves or flower buds, to make room for new ones. Once it is a grown plant, consider planting a couple seeds around it, to support it, and the roots will entangle and basically become one strong plant. If you cannot grow a plant from the seed, you might just want to adopt a plant when it is already fully grown, and take care of it from there. If a plant grows too big for its pot it sit in, you might want to consider putting it in a bigger space so it can grow to its fullest capacity. Last but not least, don't forget to photograph and show off your plant to your friends and family! If you still have trouble growing plants, you might want to go to your local garden center and ask for professional help, and let them show you how to get a "green thumb". There is some people who just have a natural talent for growing plants, but there is no one who cannot do it, all it takes is some effort. My grandparents own a flower shop so I have been around growing flowers for basically my whole life. I have known these tips from a young age and it almost comes like second nature to me. I think everyone should give growing some kind of plant a try sometime.

Being a college student, I have quickly learned how fast money is spent. From the start of the year, I have set a personal goal of saving my money and not spending it frivolously on things I don’t exactly need. There are a variety of different ways to go about saving, and after trying almost everything, I have made a list of the top five tips to help you save money.

   1. Think before you spend! Before purchasing something, stop and ask yourself a series of questions. Is this something I need? Could I buy it somewhere else for cheaper? Will I use it after I purchase it? Is it worth the amount of money I will be spending?

   2. Divide your money. Saving for a car? Going on vacation? Ready to go on a shopping spree? Divide your money and save for certain things. You will find that the money will add up quickly and you’ll have the money available when you’re ready to spend!

   3. Put your money in the bank. After you get your paycheck, immediately put it in the bank. If you put the money into a savings account, your money will be secure and stop your spending. You may also put your money into a checking account, which would leave you some spending flexibility.

   4. Shop sales. Avoid buying things at a full price. Wait for items that you're interested in buying to go on sale, or search for coupons. Also, most of the time you can find the same item for a cheaper price under a different brand name.

   5.Track your spending. Keep track of what you spend and where your money is going. This will help you make decisions about where you should cut back your spending.

If you follow the five tips listed above, I can guarantee your spending habits will change and it will be easier for you to save money. 2nd blog review

A few weeks ago I went to the movies with a good friend of mine to see "The Watch." I have to say, it did not exactly meet my expectations. I know how funny Vince Vaughn and Ben stiller are, but they were my least favorite characters in the movie. I do not think the script was all that great and Vince Vaughn and Ben stiller were not that funny. However the indian character was a surprise actor I had never seen before and he had plenty of scenes that were hilarious. The movie was about a nieghborhood watch assembling after a murder in walmart in their town. The group declares they are ready to try and bring this murderer to justice however it turns out to not be a human being. It was actually aliens behind the whole dilemma and the character I thought was hilarious turned out to be an alien himself. The plot was a bit strange to me but somehwat funny. I am not complaining as to say it wasn't funny, it just did not live up to my excpectations of the movie. So many movies that Ben stiller is in are hilarious same with Vince Vaughn. Dodgeball is perhaps my favorite movie and I loved Vince Vaughn in that movie but the character they  make him play in this movie is somewhat lame. As for Ben Stiller, seeing him in Happy Gilmore, (also a favorite of mine) was very enjoyable. I wish they gave him roles like that if you have seen Happy Gilmore the part he plays is hilarious. In conclusion The Watch was not a bad movie, but in my opinion did live up to the hype of a Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller movie. (7 of 10 stars)

Derek Bedard 2nd Blog

          One of my all-time favorite movies is hands down, Dumb and Dumber. This is a movie that I have watched over a hundred times, and it just gets funnier with each new watch. For anyone who has not seen it, can view it's launch trailer from 1994  I grew up with this movie, so it reminds me of my childhood every time I view it, which makes me appreciate it even more.  It is about these two lifelong friends who barely scrape by in society. They live in a tiny two-room apartment and each work a part-time job in order to pay the rent and save up to open their own store in the future. On an ordinary day for Lloyd Christmas as a limo driver, he meets this woman and instantly falls in love. He drives her to the airport cherishing every moment along the way. When he drops her off, he notices she has dropped her briefcase and desperate to bring it back to her in order to speak to her again, he runs out of the limo and into the airport where he grabs the briefcase before two thugs can. Little does Lloyd know that she had just dropped ransom for her abducted husband. Harry and Lloyd now must return her briefcase to her all the way in Aspen while avoiding the thugs along the way. It is a great and hilarious adventure that never has a dull moment. This film is suitable for anyone who is a fan of dumb comedy, and if you decide to watch it for the first time this weekend, I guarantee it will reward you with at least a few laughs.

             
   Eventually, there will be a sequel to this 90’s hit comedy, I hope. They had plans to start filming last year, but the plans were scrapped last minute.  I really hope someday the directors will settle their differences and pull together to create another movie that will go down as one of my favorites. When that day comes, I will be sure to see it the day it hit theaters, and I know I will enjoy it.

Psychosocial

Don’t be scared, everyone. It’s just heavy metal!

The Grammy Award Winning heavy metal band Slipknot released one of their biggest hits, Psychosocial, in July of 2008. Psychosocial is, in my opinion as well as the opinion of many die hard Slipknot fans (aka “maggots”), one of the band’s best songs. To me, it is unfortunate that music like this doesn’t get more attention from the mainstream. I’ve never been able to determine what it is, but something about heavy metal scares many people away, and Psychosocial does the same with a great many people.

Psychosocial is a song that I can personally relate to. One of the main themes of the song is social anxiety, something I have struggled with for my whole life. This song has always been a favorite of mine for many reasons, but the relation to social anxiety is one of the most prevalent.

Psychosocial slows down the tempo to bludgeon with a steady, pounding groove instead of an all-out thrash commonly found in a number of Slipknot songs, which is reminiscent of the band’s more slow burning, but still malicious second album Iowa. The song is capped off with a time-signature shattering guitar and drum breakdown that will leave even the best air instrumentalists stumped. This is actually fairly erroneous, because while the instruments do display syncopation, the time-signature remains 4/4 throughout the entire track.

Vocalist Corey Taylor displays multiple aspects of his vocal ability in this song. The chorus contains his clean, melodic singing, which may sound like a stark contrast given that the song is heavy metal. However, his clean vocals fit in very well with the rest of the song. The verses contain a combination of his rapping ability, his growling, and his raspy screaming. The vocal style in the verses displays themes of hostility and rebellion. They also show very clearly the influences that Motley Crue, Slayer, and Iron Maiden have on Taylor. In contrast, the chorus shows the influences that Pearl Jam, Black Sabbath, and Def Leppard have on him.

Drummer Joey Jordinson and guitarist Jim Root are two of the biggest stars of this song, in my opinion. Jordinson’s drums in this song are heavy and explosive and help the song’s beat along a great deal. Root’s ability to hold the powerful rhythm on guitar is second to none, which makes the guitar riff in Psychosocial my all-time favorite. 

Roger Federer

Roger Federer the greatest tennis player of all time.  He has surpassed Pete Sampras for the most grand slam titles in tennis history at 17 championships.  Federer has been the number one ranking in the tennis world for 302 straight weeks which is by far a prestigious accomplishment.  Federer is now number two in the world at the age of 31 and seeks for more championships.  There has been speculation of retirement, however Federer reassures his fans that he has some years left in him. 

He has won Wimbledon seven times, the Australian open 4 times, the French open one time, the US open 5 times, the silver Olympic medal London, the gold Olympic medal in doubles in 2008 in Beijing.  Roger has made an eye opening 76,541,422$ in prize money which holds him number one in prize money of all time.  With his career winding down it will be next to impossible for Federer to reach 1 billion dollars.  Roger Federer is really my idol, he creates a sense of brilliance on the court and off the court with his composure and security of himself.   He has the smoothest most illustrated, beautiful forehand and backhand strokes, with a fluent serve motion, where his serves sometimes reach as fast as 130 mph.  He knows how to speak multiple languages such as English, French, and Spanish.  He is a huge influence to the game of tennis world wide where if someone will speak the word of tennis one of the first things that will pop into your head is Roger Federer.  He is the most artistic man to influence the game and that if he never picked up a tennis racket, tennis would not have been as successful as it is today. 

Leonel Messi

Leonel Messi is the greatest soccer player of all time in my opinion. He is my idol because i love soccer and love to watch him play the game. I have been watching Messi since he was the 17 and was the youngest to score a goal ever in the Spanish League. Right now Messi is the best by far because he is breaking records like its his job right now. He scored 91 goals in calender year which broke Muller's 40 year old record of 85 goals. He has won 4 Player of the year awards straight, which is a record for most consecutive and the most. He is my idol because he is a monster of the soccer field and he revolutionized the sport of soccer. He is the most complete player in the game because of his level of scoring and assists. He makes his teammates better by being a good teammate and gives great advice on how to become better. Messi is always compared to Maradona and Pele but people criticize Messi on not winning a World Cup. He is only 25 years old and is in his prime. He is my idol because i want to be like and play the way he does by using dribbles so close to his feet, its like they are glued to his feet. I also want to score like him, because he hardly ever misses. He is going to keep getting better and better because he is so young. I also idolize him because he grew up in poverty and used his skills in soccer to financially support his family. I want to do the same i want to work as hard as him and financially support my family in the future. He is idolized by many all across the world and for a good reason. He is the UNICEF ambassador who helped raised money for earthquakes in Argentina and Haiti. He also founded the Leonel Messi Foundation, which helps kids with disabilities be successful. He is amazing on and off the soccer field. This why he is my idol because he is great person.

Cristiano Ronaldo's match against MAN U

The Highest Market Transfer in the history of soccer when Cristiano Ronaldo left to Real Madrid in the summer of 2009. He became the highest paid footballer in the world earning 12 million a year. Real Madrid paid a transfer fee worth of 80 million euros. This is a small fee compared to the fee Manchester United paid Sporting CP (his old club) of 12.24 euros. Ronaldo left a glorious career at Manchester United. He helped Man U get three league titles in a row form 2006 season to the end of 2009 season. He won player of the league with Man U in 2007 and 2008. He left Man U with total of 196 appearances and 84 goals.

It was amazing when Real Madrid drew Manchester United for the knockout round of the Champions League. This game was one of the highly awaited matches in the Tournament. This meant that all the true soccer fans could wittiness Ronaldo against his own club Manchester United.

When the match began the focus was on Ronaldo. How would he perform against his old club? Would he score against his own club? Many questions were going to be answer in this match. This Blog best explains the events in the match of Real Madrid vs. Manchester United. 

Real Madrid was huge favorites heading into the match. It was a huge surprise when Man U struck first. Man U scored off a beautiful header by striker Danny Welbeck in the 20th minute. Man U looked in control of the match after the goal. Then 10 minutes after the first goal of the match Ronaldo rose up a headed in the Angel di Maria's cross for a goal. It was a perfect cross and a perfect header by Ronaldo and he did not celebrate because of the respect for his own club. This showed how great full he was for the club that gave him the chance to shine on the grand soccer stage. The game ended with a 1-1 draw. The aggregate was 2-1 because Manchester united was playing away. The second match will take place on March 5th. Again the Focus will be on Ronaldo and how he will perform.

Tyler Beasley 2nd Blog- Indianapolis

What is there to do? How big of a city is it? Is there a night life? Don’t worry I am going to give you the review of Indianapolis. Many of you probably have no idea about the city and what there is around to do. This place is my home and I can successfully say that the city of Indianapolis is not what you think it is. Indianapolis has many things going on, the Indianapolis Colts are based out of downtown and also there is the Indiana Pacers of the NBA and the Indiana Fever of the WNBA who just won the championship. There is also a minor league baseball team who is the farm team of the Pittsburgh Pirates of the MLB. In 2010 the census said that Indianapolis had a population of 830,000 people. There are many schools in this area all packed in to a small circle. Indianapolis also has the Indy 500 which is said to be the biggest sporting event in the world; the race brings a lot of money into the economy of Indianapolis.  The city is a sport driven town, you hear a lot about the Colts and Pacers but there are also colleges all around the city. The main college is downtown Indianapolis that everyone knows about is Butler university. Butler became well known just a few years ago as they went to the National championship in the NCAA March madness tournament two years in a row. One of those games being played in Indianapolis. Indianapolis hosts the final four every five years because of it being such a great place. Indianapolis also hosted the super bowl in 2012. Indianapolis was said to be one of the best host cities the super bowl has ever had. The city also has many appealing clubs and bars to provide for a good night life right downtown. There is also a very beautiful river running right through downtown called white river, it is very big and goes throughout the city. There is the Indianapolis zoo right downtown that is also a place that a lot of people tend to go to. All in all Indianapolis has lots of things to do and is a very good place to raise a family; I wouldn’t choose to live anywhere else.

 

Review on "The Wealthy Barber" by David Chilton

Everyone these days strive to become financially independent, but most people have no idea how to achieve that goal.  The book “The Wealthy Barber” by DavidChilton explains to you in a funny manner how to put yourself into a good financial status.  I know when I am older I want to be wealthy and not worry about money.  David Chilton uses a barber as the smart guy who knows the ways to become financially independent.  It is so hard to make investing and money circumstances interesting and funny, but Chilton accomplishes that.  I recommend everyone to this book and everyone should read it who wants to have an idea to know what to do with their money.  95% of people today retire broke and Chilton is trying to make that percent decrease by offering valuable information throughout the book.  The Wealthy Barber teaches you how to invest, where to invest, mortgage, and anything else to do with money.  I read the book in two days because it is such an easy read and I was anxious to learn everything I could about money.  I know when I’m ready to retire I won’t have to worry about money because I started at a young age.  Starting at a young age is such a key part to investing because of the rule of 72.  I’m sure not a lot of people know the rule of 72, but thanks to The Wealthy Barber and my job I now know what it means.  Chilton uses three characters to take a spin of three different money instances.  It really helps the reader get a great understanding of where he is coming from and shows exactly how you can invest and where you can invest.  Reading this book has excelled me in my job because I work with people’s money and I’m glad that I read it.  The Wealthy Barber really gives you an understanding of what you need to do with your money right now.  Don’t wait to invest always pay yourself first.  If anyone is interested in reading the book I can lend it to you if you would like. 

Andre RIckerson 2nd Blog : Kendrick Lamar

Hello Everyone. I’m a big fan of hip hop music and one of my favorite artists today is Kendrick Lamar. His music is just so much different than other rappers in the industry. He has his own style and on any song that he features on you can recognize his voice as soon as he starts to rap on a track. His debut album Good Kid M.A.A.D City was one of the best of 2012. Time Magazine ranked the album #2 of the year of 2012. Also Rolling Stone ranked it the #6 album of the year of 2012. Kendrick Lamar has been around for a while but he was just making mixtapes such as Section 80 (one of his best). He is from Compton California witch he mentions and represents a lot in his songs. Also he explains his life and how he made it out of a place where everyone is expected to do badly in life. I really love this album and when it came out I would listen to it all the time, my roommate would also agree upon that. I find it really ironic that Dr. Dre is his mentor. I was thinking, maybe that’s why Kendrick Lamar is really good because he’s getting one on one advice from one of the most successful producers ever. I like Kendrick Lamar because he doesn’t talk about guns and violence all the time like some rappers. He paints vivid pictures in your head like he’s telling a story or something on each song he makes. He also has his own flow that nobody in the industry could copy. My favorite song on his gold album is “The Art Of Peer Pressure” because it’s such a true story and I can relate to it so well. I’m pretty sure a lot of people can relate to that song because peer pressure is something that happens all the time to us young people. I would rate Kendrick Lamar’s album Good Kid M.A.A.D City a 9 out of 10 because every song on the album is a master piece and its really good music.

If your looking for a new phone that fits all your needs the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the phone for you. This new piece of technology out does many of its competitors in its class such as the I phone. This phone is one of the rare phones that actually lives up to its hype. Some of the important physical features of the new samsung are the colour on the screen are bright and highly saturated. Videos, photos and apps pop out of the screen as if they were 3D the screen is amazing. Another physical feature is it dose not weigh a lot 132g, eight grams less then the much smaller I phone 4s, and it is 8.9cm thin.

 The next main feature we will talk about is the battery life and power saving. The battery in this phone is a big 2,100 mAh battery. The main features of the battery life is yes it could run quickly depending how you use it. The S3 gives you the option to use the power saving mode making you have battery life for the full 24 hours, or even longer. Or you can use the Smart stay program, which uses the front facing camera to monitor when you are looking at the screen. This means whenever you are not looking at the screen you are not waisting any battery. this is one of the S3's coolest features. No more reading a paragraph and the screen goes dark with the new Smart stay program it only goes dark when your not looking at it.

Now for the software features. This soft ware is amazing, like Seri on the I phone 4s you can now talk to the galaxy and have it do what you want from voice. Things such as voice text look up the weather search the web or call someone, this phone is like your own little robot. The S3 is the fastest phone yet uploading videos and images in a matter of seconds. It also finds signals for you phone in places you didn't know you could get service.

The verdict is this phone is truly amazing it has all the features to an iphone everyone is looking fo an more. The difference is the S3 excelles at everything better than the other smart phones. So what are you waiting for go get a Samsung Galaxy S3 today.

For work this weekend I wore a new pair of pants. Little did I know that these pants attracted every piece of lint, string, or particle floating in the air. So, I kept having to use my lint roller that I keep in my locker. Then, one of my co-workers let me borrow her "Sticky Buddy." The Sticky Buddy is a reusable lint roller. It worked 100 times better than my other lint roller. It's pretty much a regular lint roller except it's like a role of glue rather than sticky paper that has to be peeled off. After use, all you do is rinse it off and the lint comes off of it. Then once it's dry you can use it again. After she let me use hers I bought my own for $6.99. A regular lint roller is $4.49, and can only be used about 75 times. The sticky buddy is only $2.50 more, and it comes with a large sticky buddy and a mini-sticky buddy.
