Couponing

It seems like a lot of people nowadays are almost ashamed to use coupons when purchasing things.  I don't know why, coupons are basically just free money.  Every little bit, from the save 5 cent coupons to the 20% off coupons will help you save money.  I will say, however, that coupons aren't for everything.  If you are out on a date with someone and you pull out a coupon to pay for the meal, there is a solid chance you won't be going on another date with that person.  But when you're at a department or grocery store, there is no need to feel embarassed about using coupons to help you save a little money.
A lot of people think that the only way to get coupons is by looking in the little section of your weekly newspaper with the coupons in it.  The thing about these coupons is that they never seem to be for what you want.  On the week you want chicken, they have beef coupons.  When you want cereal, they have coupons for everything but.  This method of gathering coupons can be infuriating; but there is a better, easier way.  Many store websites have a page for coupons, where you can print off coupons or even load them onto your store card.  There are even websites, such as http://www.coupons.com/, that give you free coupons to print off, that you can use to save on the products you buy most.
With the current state of the economy, more people are using coupons than ever.  There are even television shows which feature people who are taking coupon use to the next level.  TLC's Extreme Couponing shows people that are able to spend just pennies on a purchase that would cost a normal shopper hundreds of dollars.
Coupon use is at an all time high.  And now, many stores have 'double coupon' days, where your coupons value doubles.  So a 50 cent coupons turns into a $1 saving.  This may not seem like much, but when your a college student on a budget, these little savings add up over time, and you can in turn spend your money on something more enjoyable than a gallon of milk.
