Tips on how to be a fullback
In the game of football there is a unsung hero that no one gives the credit that the player deserve. The fullback, the player that has to constantly lead or pass block for the running back and quarter back. The position is brutal and demanding, sometimes its you one on one with the linebacker and you have to show your the better man. A few tips on being the best fullback you can be. First tip is get the better leverage. If you are able to get underneath or lower than your opponent you have a better chance of being the dominate blocker and maybe even pancaking the linebacker. The next tip is run at the person with all intent to hurt the linebacker. Being a fullback you have to play with a mean attitude. think they can just push us around but in reality it should be the other way around. Another tip is if the full back were to running the ball he should run with his shoulder low and run with extreme power. In this video it shows one of the most dominate fullbacks in the game. The next tip I would give is develop a connection with your running back. developing a connection with your running back helps him and you understand the gap and running sequence of the game. Also having a better connection could lead to better cuts and more yards because you are so use to reading the fullback you developed a connection with. I makes running the ball easier and helps out the team a lot. The next tip is run your feet even if you are not the winner of a block if you keep your block and run your feet you can still potentially make a good agressive block. Why it is so important because if you get beat by the line backer the play isn't over you could still be successful. The last tip is dont quit until the play is over you never know what could happen.

Hey Lucien. I have to say I agree that the fullback position is one of the most brutal and demanding positions in football. Fullbacks do a great deal of blocking, and that is a very physically demanding job in itself. Having the extra responsibility of occasionally running the football as well makes fullback an entirely different beast, as opposed to being an offensive lineman who can clear a path for the running back. I also agree with your tip on getting better leverage. If you can get the leverage you need, there is a very good chance you will be able to get through or past the defender and gain that extra yard or two. I also agree that developing a connection with your running back is a vital part of the position. It is one of the most overlooked aspects of the game. How often would running backs fail to properly read the block the fullback is setting for them if they didn’t have a connection? Lastly, I agree that you should never quit. You never know if you will be able to break free from the defender to gain a couple of extra yards.
