Katie Tupaj Recommendation (2nd post)

Recommendation for Up!

Up! is a heartwarming Pixar film that was released in 2009. This movie is a perfect film for children three to one hundred and three.

Up! includes many lovable characters. One of these characters is Carl Fredricksen. Carl is an old man who, in the start of the movie, is quite bitter. After the death of his wife Ellie he is forced to face an ever changing world all alone. He met Ellie when he was a child and they fell in love with each other after quickly realizing they have the same passion for adventure. Carl made the promise to Ellie that they would go to Paradise Falls together; even after she dies, Carl still manages to keep his promise.

The next main character falls into the story by chance. Russell is a Wilderness Explorer and needs to assist the elderly in order to earn his last badge. Russell found himself on the adventure to Paradise Falls by accident much to the dismay of Carl. As the length of the trip grows, so does the relationship between Carl and Russell.

Carl and Russell meet the next main character when their house ship lands in South America. What Carl thought appeared to be a rock, was actually a talking dog named Dug. Dug belongs to the antagonist of the film, Charles Muntz. Dug is the outcast from the group of dog Muntz owns and quickly becomes loyal to Russell and Carl.

The next character added to the crew is a bird named Kevin. This bird is being hunted by Muntz's dog in order to regain his reputation as a great explorer. Russell sees Kevin as his pet and tries to protect her all throughout the movie.

The last main player in the movie is Charles Muntz. Charles Muntz at one time was the reason that Carl and Ellie found each other. At this time, Muntz had brought back the skeleton of a 13 foot bird. After scientists declare the sketleton a fake, Muntz makes bringing back an alive version to clear his name. Later in the movie, however, Carl finds out that Muntz is going to be his biggest enemy. Muntz is trying to capture the bird, which ends up being Kevin. Muntz even captures Carl and Russell at one point in hopes of getting the bird from them.

Up! is a timeless movie that families will enjoy for generations to come. For the youngsters, the movie includes cute animals, lots of color, and a happy ending. For the older crowd, Up! also has a love story, humor, loss, and incorporates an action filled plot. This is a movie that people can watch over and over without getting bored. Up! recieves an A+ rating.

  1. I have a few words about Up. I think it’s a great movie also. I believe everyone has seen this movie no matter what age you are. It should be a law to see this family fun movie. My first time seeing this was with my girlfriend of sophomore year. We loved that movie it was a good time. It has a really good plot and even a good ending. I hate movies with bad endings. Way to kill an entire experience right? I thought your review to be quite accurate and heartwarming. I enjoy the enthusiasm you had about the movie. All the pictures were really fun also. You seem to capture all the best parts of the movie which can make a kid want to actually go see the movie. It’s pretty cool how you got moving pictures as well! You have to let me know how you did that. Good review all in all

  2. Katie, I couldn't agree with you anymore on this movie. There is nothing better than a classic pixar film no matter how old we are. I remember I first saw this movie when it came out in the theater and I fell in love with it. From the love story in the beginning to the friendship between Carl and Russell, this movie almost had me tearing up. I loved how you mentioned the things Up! has to offer for the different ages because it truly does have something to offer to everyone. The plot line definitely includes values that should be cherished. The videos and pictures in your blog look awesome and I love that you chose to put the scene in with Carl and Ellie, I think it's one of the best scenes. I have only seen the entire movie a couple of times, but after reading your recommendation, I definitely plan on watching it again soon.
