Derek Bedard 1st Blog

My name is Derek Bedard, and I am a freshmen here at Nichols College. When the year fist started, I was a little skeptical about moving away from home. I was not sure how I felt about moving away from my girlfriend, my friends, and my family for long periods of time. I came from Palmer, Massachusetts, which is about forty minutes away from here. I figured, if I did not enjoy it here, I would just go home on the weekends, and focus on my grades. Last semester, I went home three times in the course of four months. I made a lot of new friendships and had a blast up here on the hill. I adapted to the new environment very well, and all my worrying prior to move-in day was for nothing. Now I am here starting my second semester, and I plan to be here when I start my last. Although I may commute next year to avoid the costs of living here which has really taken a toll on my bank account. It is a little bit of a drive, but I won't mind it. Before moving up here on September 1st, I worked full time in the summer at Elms College. It was a pretty brutal job with rough hours, seven in the morning to three thiry in the afternoon, but I had a great time and made some great friends when I worked there. I am a big sports fan, but baseball if my favorite. I love to watch it, read about it, and even play it. I have been a New York Yankee fan my whole life, and I have lived in  Massachusetts my whole life as well.
One of the plazas in Palmer

I love being a Yankee fan near Boston. Everytime I mention it, I get a silent stare from every baseball fan in the room, and I love it. I am very excited about this next semester here at Nichols. I have a little bit of a less stressful schedule, and I managed to get Fridays off, which really excites me. It will be an interesting semester full of fun, friends, and large workloads, but throughout all the stress and hardships, it will no doubt be memorable.

Connor Richard

My name is Connor Richard and I am from Londonderry, New Hampshire.  Londonderry is a small town filled with drama and apple orchards.  Back home everyone knows everyone and words spread like a wild fire.  Then there was Nichols College, which was located in Dudley, Ma.  Coming to Nichols was a huge change for me.  Growing up, I was always a mama's boy, meaning she would always be there whenever I needed help.  Now being at school, I had to learn to grow up and do things on my own.  I have been playing football since I was seven years old and still continue to play here at Nichols.  Granted the team isn't as good as I hoped it'd be, I can't picture not playing football.  To me, football has always been a treatment for all the stress in my life.  You get a nice pat on the back for hitting someone as hard as you can.  How can that not help with stress?
I have always been the athletic one in the family, while my sister has had the brains.  She graduated high school with a 3.9 G.P.A., this was something I've always tried to beat her in but seem to fail year after year.  However, my grades were good enough to get into college and in the long run, that is the only thing that matters.  I am going to be a Criminal Justice Major, but do not know what I want to do with it.  My father happens to be a Juvenille Detective back home in New Hampshire.  He loves his job and is a happy man (proven by the beer gut he as acquired over the last couple of years).
Taking this course kind of worries me due to the fact I am not the best person with a computer.  I hope by taking this class I gain a greater knowledge of how to use a computer and its perks that it has.  Everyone I know is a complete computer wiz except for me so hopefully I will no longer be an outcast in the world of technology.  This is my first blog and the first time I actually took time to read a blog.  The most interesting blog to me was
Richard sherman Seahawks
I chose this article due to the fact I am a huge Seattle Seahawks fan.  Richard Sherman is my favorite player in the NFL.  This link was found on www.nfl.com, which is the official website of the NFL.

1st Post

Hello, my name is Brett Rabideau and I am a freshman here at Nichols College. I live in Longmeadow Massachusetts and have enjoyed my time so far here at Nichols. In the past I have worked as a golf caddy assisting members and working at a lumber yard this past summer which was different but was actually enjoyable. Perhaps my greatest passion is the game of hockey. I have played hockey since I was four years old however this is the first year I am not playing competitive hockey so I certainly miss it. I also love to watch hockey, and am a huge bruins fan. I rarely miss a game and my favorite player is # 17, Milan Lucic.

While taking this course, i hope to improve my computer skills and knowledge as best as I can, and perhaps learn how to make a website which could come in handy.

The blog i chose to share is, as you could guess, a hockey related blog. I always enjoy reading what is posted on this website they always seem to have all the big stories and the latest news that will interest you. This blog is explaining what 5 NHL teams who have had excellent starts will continue how they are playing and take that momentum into the playoffs. My top two teams were in the predicted top 5 which re the Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks.
Hello, my name is Tyler Ingersoll; I am a 19 year old freshman at Nichols College. I commute to Nichols from Webster, Massachusetts, and work at Kmart. I work at the Service Desk, and I hate every second of it. It’s a hard and stressful task, and I’m screamed at by random people every day. It’s not the best, but I enjoy the people I work with, and it makes for good stories. As of right now, I do not have a major, because I have yet to decide what I want to study. I change my mind daily, which is why I have not declared an actual major yet, because I would have to constantly change it. My life pretty much consists of school and work, but when I have the time, I really enjoy reality television shows, and talk shows. I just really like the idea of Hollywood, and fame, and celebrities in general. Sometimes I think I know a little too much about certain celebrities, but I'm just very attracted to the Hollywood lifestyle. I'm also a twitter addict, I communicate mainly through twitter, I receive all my news from twitter, and I am updated on the world around me mainly through twitter. Also, I get to follow my favorite stars and see what they do each day.

Throughout the twelve Digital Applications classes during the spring semester, I hope to gain more computer skills. Other than Microsoft word and PowerPoint, Microsoft office is useless for me, because I've never learned how to use excel, or publisher, and whatever else it may offer. So, I'd like to be able to use the other components of Microsoft office. Also, I’ve never had a blog before, so I’m not exactly sure what I’m supposed to be writing about, and it’s all pretty new to me. The website seems pretty complicated to use and navigate, but hopefully I will get the hang of it soon enough.

One blog that I've always read is The Hollywood Gossip. On this blog, you can be informed on anything Hollywood. From movies, to television shows, to the latest scandals, The Hollywood Gossip will keep you up to date. I feel as though The Hollywood Gossip is a credible blog, because they've been online for years, and their stories have always turned out factual.

Raza Rabbani

Hi my name is  Raza Rabbani, I have lived all my life  in the city of Peabody Massachusetts.  I attended  Peabody Veterans Memorial High School   in Peabody MA.  In high school   it was a fantastic time for me all because of sports.   Sports fueled my best quality, that is my competitive nature.  It forced me to do my best in everything I did.  I played football in high school and  ran outdoor and indoor track.  In high school football I played Wide Receiver. In my senior year in football we had our first non losing season in seven years.  I however was unsatisfied with the record because we could have easily been 7-3. I hated even losing one game  so it hurt every time my team lost.  I was a sprinter in track and ran the 50, 100 and 200 meter. I loved track for the single reason we never lost. In my years running track our record as a team was 20-1 and won the league title in both seasons four years in a row.   I now attend Nichols College in Dudley Massachusetts where I currently am a freshman. My  favorite hobbies are watching and playing sports.  Sports just have too much drama and intensity if you pay attention to it.  Like the Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics game today. Both teams going neck and neck throughout the game. Eventually both teams going into a double overtime win for the Celtics. Both teams made spectacular plays for their teams to win. I love playing sports because, I hate sitting around and not doing anything. Second of all I just like competing with other people.

In Digital Apps class I would love to gain the best knowledge I can in computer programs. I want turn a decent power point into a great  power point.  These skills could really make my presentation look really good whether it’s a class project or for a job.

ESPN  blogs personally for me is my favorite blog to read.  ESPN is a sports blog that covers all sports and leagues.  ESPN blog is even sophisticated  that you can find exactly what you want to look up.  ESPN is easily the most credible  sports blog because it consists of sports writer and former players. The sports writers come from other magazines and news papers.  The players actually played the game and have a first hand insight on their perspective sport.  I absolutely love this blog as it can keep me update to any particular sport I want.

Saurav Chetteri

I am Saurav Chetteri. I was born in New Delhi, India. I moved to America when I was 10. Moved to Chelmsford, Massachusetts and after 2 years moved to Lowell, Massachusetts. Then 2 years later moved to Dracut, Massachusetts. I have been living in Dracut for 6 years. I am currently going to Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts. My major is Criminal Justice. I am the Shamie Hall President. I am part of CAB, Criminal Justice Club, and Retention and Recruitment Committee. I also attend weekly SGA meetings. I love watching and playing sports, also I love to dance and travel. I like to meet new people. I like to learn about other cultures and ethics from people from different countries. I lived in India for 10 years old and I learned to speak Hindi. My favorite sport is soccer and my favorite player is Leonel Messi.

I want to learn how to make a website. I want to learn this because this will come in handy in the future. Also i wanted to learn how to use all of the Microsoft equipment. I have also been week in creating flyers and i need to learn how to make flyers.

Brady Fined by

This Blog was interesting because Christoph liked Brady for that slide because it showed that he was pissed and was willing to do anything to win the game. I kind of agree with that but to a limit. During the whole Ravens players hitting patriots players hard and Ridley was hit so hard that he wasn't even moving. Brady has been known for having the best slides and i feel that Reed was running full speed which scared Brady, and he put his leg up to protect himself. Brady was fined 10,000 which isn't going to affect him. I agree with the fine even though i am a huge Brady fan but that slide could have been bad for reed. Watching the game live, i said "Reed is lucky he didn't get injured".

Shrey Chetteri

My name is Shrey Chetteri. I am from Dracut, MA. I was born and raised in the country of India. My whole family originated from Nepal. I moved to America at the age of 10. If you guys didn't know I have a twin brother who also attends Nichols College. I am freshman and part of the Class of 2016. I am currently the class of 2016 President. My major is Criminal justice management.
My Hobbies include trying many different cultural foods. I love to take part in many sports. My favorite sport is soccer.

I have relatively good skills on the computer. I want learn the business aspects of the computer. I want to gain knowledge on how to use technology efficiently as a professional. I hope to gain education that can be used effectively in the business world and specifically my field. With the knowledge I gain I want to earn a respective job.

Even Though my team (Patriots) lost this weekend, I will still be watching the upcoming Superbowl as a Football fan. It’s still a very good match up for who takes home the Lombardi trophy. The two teams Ravens and 49ers have so many histories between each other it make for a good Superbowl game. This
Blog explains it all. Lots of true fans know that current 49ers coach at one point belong on the ravens team as Ray Lewis. The enriched you with the 49ers success since being established as a franchise. These two teams have only met five times all together in their franchises history. Statistically ravens seem to have an advantage over the 49ers. What makes this super bowl a must watch is the emergence of Colin Kaepernick. Ravens have yet to face this dangerous quarterback. How will the raven react to the new quarterback? Or how will Flacco play in his first super bowl?

We will all find out February 3rd when the Ravens take on the 49ers.

Josh Foote

I am Josh Foote and I am from Weymouth, Massachusetts. I am an employee of D.L.Foote & Sons. I am currently a freshman and intend to major in Sport Management. I want to major in sport management because from a young age I have always loved sports and I want to become a coach of professional baseball team. I love to play sports and just have a goodtime with my friends. My whole life I played baseball and basketball in town and travel leagues. My favorite sports teams are all from the New England area. A few years ago I got into watching UFC. To me UFC fighters put on a show and fight for more than just money. They fight for their families, countries and it is what they love to do. My goal for this class is how to use the computer better.

The blog I chose was by James Walker. He is a writer for espn.com and he covers the NBA and NFL. His blogs are on the NFL and news around it. I found his blogs very interesting because he can go into depth about the league because he has been covering it for almost five years now. There was one article the caught my eye though. The article was titled Walker’s weekend mailbag: Is Long gone? This article caught my eye because he is answering questions that were asked by fans of the AFC east teams and their players. He analysis of each team is impressive. To know so much information on so many teams and players is incredible. The way he goes about answering each persons question with stats and the teams’ money situation is amazing. His blog was interesting to me because I want to know what the Patriots and other teams in the division might do to make their teams better now or for the future. One thing that I did not know before reading this blog was the one of the best offensive tackles in the NFL is a free agent this offseason and the Patriots could defiantly use him to protect Tom Brady. This blog is credible because it came from an actual writer from ESPN.
Hey everyone my name is Francesco Chiaravalloti and I am from Torrington, Connecticut. I'm 18 years old (turning 19 in March) and I am a freshman here at Nichols College. I currently take up sports management as my major here, but I took Intro to Sports Management during the fall semester and really didn't like it. So I'm pretty sure I am going to switch and double major in hospitality and international business. I also play on the Mens Soccer team here at Nichols. I've been playing soccer since I was 5 years old and last year I got recruited to come to this school. Soccer is pretty much my life and it's influenced my life dramatically. Another fun fact is that I am 100% italian. I have been to Italy many times, I have family there and it's just an amazing place all together; it's my favorite place to be. It just so happens that my favorite soccer team is also from Italy, I have been following A.C. Milan my whole life. I guess you could call me a "hard-core" fan. My favorite player is Stephan El-Shaarawy. He just so happens to also play for my favorite team.

In the remainder of this course, I hope gain some some general knowledge in maybe creating and maintaining a website or blog. I've always wanted to make my own website but I wouldn't even know where to begin. I'm completely in the dark when it comes to websites. I am also new to this whole blogging thing so I guess it would be cool to learn about blogs too. I've never really given any thought about blogging but I am open to try new things.

I'm new to this whole blogging experience, but after doing some research I would have to say that my favorite blog is ACMilanBlog. I like this blog because it covers everything about my favorite soccer team. As I've already said, I have a passion for soccer so it's no surprise that my favorite blog is about soccer. Like I said I'm new to this so unfortunately I don't have a whole lot to say about blogging.

Thanks for reading!

My name is Alex Larson, and I am a freshman at Nichols College, located in Dudley, Massachusetts.  When I first enrolled at Nichols College, I planned to study sports management, but after being at school for a while and talking to some alumni who have had trouble finding work in that field, I have decided to change my major to finance, although there is a strong possibility that I will continue to pursue sports management, but I would most likely minor in it, rather than major.  Unlike many of the students at Nichols College, my hometown is not located in the New England area.  Growing up in Huntsville, Alabama, I never planned on attending a college over 1,000 miles away from home, but the fact that I play hockey changed that.  Last year, I played hockey in Cleveland, Ohio, and was then recruited by Nichols College to come to Dudley to further my career and get a good education.
Playing hockey is my main focus and is also the thing that I get the most joy out of.  However, there are of course other things that I like to do in my free time.  Of all the activities I take part in away from the hockey rink, playing golf is my favorite way to pass the time.  There are few things better than hitting the links on a warm day for 18 holes of golf with your regular foursome.
I have now started my second semester at Nichols College, and the same class that requires me to write this blog post is also one of the classes that I hope to get the most experience out of.  I have never been very good with computers and technology, so I'm hoping that this class will further my knowledge in technology.
I have already stated that hockey is my favorite sport to play, and it is also my favorite sport to watch.  Growing up, every kid has their favorite professional sports team, and my favorite team is the New Jersey Devils.  Fire and Ice is the official blog for the New Jersey Devils, covering all of their day to day activities. During my lifetime, the Devils have enjoyed a great deal of success, including a 9 year stretch from the mid 1990s to the early 2000s where the team won 3 Stanley Cups.  Last season, the Devils fell just short of their fourth Stanley Cup, losing to the Los Angeles Kings the the finals in six games.  But now the NHL lockout is over, and a new season has started, with 30 teams trying to win the ultimate trophy.

Ryan Pichel

I am Ryan Pichel from Littleton Massachusetts.  I am a freshman here at Nichols College studying sports management as my major.  Over the past few summers I have been working at Quail Ridge Country Club, where I work on the maintenance crew.  The hours are pretty rough as the days starts at 6 in the morning and ends around 2:30 in the afternoon.  During the winter I work at Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford Massachusetts.  I work in the rental shop there where I tech skiis for costumers as well as size them for skiing and snowboarding gear.  My favorite sport/hobbie would be playing baseball and football.  Living in Massachusetts, my favorite sports teams are the Bruins, Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox.  I am also the odlest of four kids in my family.  I have two younger sisters ages 18 and 11 as well as a younger brother who is 10.  My parents are divorced so my dad lives right down the street in Northbridge so it is always easy to go and see him whenever I like.  This year I hope to be a part of the Nichols College baseball team as it has been a dream of mine since i was a little kid, to play baseball past the high school level.

In this class I hope to become better at different internet and computer programs.  I hope that it will also help me in bettering myself in the sports management field.

I chose to read a blog about the upcoming superbowl in New Orleans next Sunday which is being played by the Baltimore Ravens and the San Fransisco 49ers.  An interesting fact about the game is that the Ravens will be coached by John Harbaugh and the 49ers will be coached by Jim Harbaugh.  This is the first ever meeting in superbowl history that two brothers will be facing eachother as head coaches.  the two brothers have been very intrumental in their teams winning ways this year.  John made a coaching change with only three games left in the season and gave the offensive coordinator job to a man that hadn't run an offense since back in his college coaching days.  Jim made one of the toughest decisions a coach had to make.  Does his stick with his veteran quarterback or does he start the electric rookie.  Both coaches made the right decision and now have the chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy next sunday, the onlty question is, which brother will come out on top?

First assignment Tyler Beasley

Hi, my name is Tyler Beasley. I am from Indianapolis, Indiana. I am currently a freshman here at Nichols College. My major is still up in the air, I haven't figured out what exactly I want to do yet.  I play hockey for the team here at school and am having a very good season. I am the only freshman to play in every game so far. I have also been ECAC rookie of the week and also have been the ECAC player of the week. My background is the same as most students I went to a big high school in Indiana. I worked as a life guard in the summer at the local pool down the street from me. That was the best summer job ever getting to hangout by the pool and be outside every day.  I love to be outside and running around, I don't like to be crammed inside and not being able to enjoy the fresh air. I also played high school baseball for 4 years and that was very fun. It was a nice break to relax and play baseball after a very tough hockey season in the winter.

In this class I hope to learn how to use the different aspects of the computer. I want to learn all the different things that you can do on the computer. In today's world technology is very big and if you can't use technology you get left behind somewhat. All the different Microsoft office programs will be good to learn to help me throughout my 4 years here at Nichols in different classes and what not.

I found this blog about the Indianapolis Colts, they are my favorite NFL team and this is a huge story going on in Indianapolis right now. This is a credible blog because it was done by a sports writer and along with this blog he has 312 more on his site.  I like to read up on the colts because of them being my favorite team so I want to know the little things and all the stuff going on behind the scenes that might not be put on sportscenter. I don't hear much about the colts here in Massachusetts.

My name is Bruce Means III; I am from West Deptford, New Jersey. I was born and raised in New Jersey. I have been playing football my whole life, starting at the youth level, through high school and now at college at Nichols College. Throughout my high school career of football my school is one of the top schools in football in South Jersey. Over the past decade my school has won six state championships. Over that decade we went to 8 state finals but only winning six. With some many state championships we were one the best school over the past decade. The only reason we been to so many state finals is because of our head coach Clyde Folsom. Without him we will not be able to be a winning football team. We would just be a normal team without any championships.
When not playing football I am usually hanging out with my friends. Hanging with my friends is the best thing. When hanging with my friends’ helps me clear my mind. When after a tough lost in football they are there for me to cheer me up. They always have a way to make me laugh and smile. Either a funny movie or when we shoot each other with BB guns and we all die laughing when one person gets hit the most and is in pain.
When I get bored sometimes I play my Xbox 360. With my Xbox I can no longer be bored of doing nothing other than watching TV. The types of games that I play are role playing, strategy, shooter, and sports. The best shooter game I play is the Call of Duty series. Every year they come out with a new game that turns into the best shooter and multiplayer of all time. The first call of duty game started with World War II. Today’s call of duty takes place in the near future with a cold war in the year 2025. My favorite strategy game is Halo Wars. Halo Wars is about a real life game Set early in the iconic war between the Covenant and UNSC.

Fleury- Lawson

My name is Joshua Halpern but I like to be called Josh.  I am from Secaucus, New Jersey

my town got affected by the hurricane Sandy, and I happened to be there during this horrible

tragedy and it left my house without power for about a week.  I have had a couple of jobs in the

past, I was a lifeguard for a couple of summers when I was in high school, and I’ve been

teaching tennis the last 3 summers at the Nutley Tennis Club in New Jersey. I am a Freshmen

here at Nichols, my major is Sports Management.  I really hope that I can get into the sports

business side of things in a year or two.  I am also on the Nichols college men’s tennis team and

we hope to win another championship this year.

I had a couple of computer courses in high school but they were really teaching us about

it really we just learned the basic things about computers.  I hope to learn more advanced

material about computers because it is something that interests me.  I also want to gain

knowledge from this course so I can take that back home with me and the future to come because

you never know when you’re going to need a specific thing about a site on a computer or

something of that nature.

I found this blog to be really excited for the sport of tennis.  This will be the second

consecutive final that Murray and Djokovic will compete in.  Murray beat the #1 in world last

time in the U S Open, but it is clear on everyone’s mind that Djokovic wants revenge so that he

can capture the Australian Open title.  An interesting fact between these two players is that they

are the same age and their birthdays are only a couple of days apart.  Djokovic is also looking

forward to become the only man in the history of tennis to win 3 consecutive Australian Open

titles.  In head to head meetings Djokovic leads Murray 10-7 but Murray matches keep getting

closer to victory as Djokovic will to try and hold off Murray on early Sunday morning.
Hi my name is Lucien Cance, I am from Windsor Connecticut. I am a freshman at Nichols College majoring in Business Communications. One of my favorite hobbies is I love to play football. Things that I hope to gain from this course is how to better my skills on making presentations or become more familiar with computer skills that I can develop to make those presentations. Another thing I hope to learn from this course is the how to be comfortable with the technology that is given to me and be able to understand it better than most people.

The blog that i choose to talk about is a blog by Ravi Somaiya, Rallies Against Gun Control. This blog is explain that our country today is having rallies to protect our right of the second amendment. The main purpose was to send a message to president Obama and Congress about what they think about gun control. This blog intrest me because I strongly agree with the rallies every person has the right to defend themselves. When are weapons are taken away that is like an open door for criminals to take advantage. Gun control or not criminals dont care there going to get gun either way. I also think criminals knowing law abiding partrons have guns would make them think twice before messing with a regular citizen. Taking away our guns becomes a serious unfair advantage. This blog is showing that people are taking a stand against Congress to defend there right to the second amendment and will not back down. Mort importantly these people are defending the right to self defense because no one wants to feeling afraid because they have nothing to defend themselves against cruel, or mentally sick individuals. What make this topic so credible is it would be an ongoing debate for quite sometime with neither side backing down. Many including my self give our strong opinions on being for guns. Others will give there opinions on why they are against. the right answer is what you believe and no one can tell you your wrong because there is no true answers.

Zach McKenzie's Blog #1

My name is Zach McKenzie from Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. I am a freshmen and live on campus in Shamie Hall. I am currently majoring in Sport Management. I lived with my father this past summer in Glastonbury, CT and worked for Liberty Landscape LLC out of South Windsor. I took this job to get the full experience of how the real world really is. Since it was the summer before college i was hoping that it was going to help me work a lot harder in school, and it did. My parents are divorced and I only saw my dad about once a month during high school. But now that I am in college I see him almost every weekend since Nichols is only an hour away. I love to watch and play basketball. I was captain of my basketball team my senior year. Working on my car is another hobby of mine as well. I drive a Volkswagen along with everyone else in my family. My dad and I share interest working on our cars as well, installing aftermarket air intakes, headlights, diverter valves etc.

I did not know that this class was going to be about blogging. I thought we were going to be making applications hints the name "digital apps". I have grown up around technology my whole life and have thought about working for Apple. My aunt use to work for Travelers writing programs so I would say it's in my genes. I can say though that I have yet to blog before, all this is new to me. I have heard of people that blog all day about all sorts of things. What I hope to get out of this class is learn how blogging and everything else is going to help me in the future. I am going to try and have a positive attitude about this class even if i get frustrated at times.

The blog that interests me is the Volkswagen Motor Trend blog. This interests me because I love my VW's and this one particularly is the king of all. Being able to go on a blog like this and learn about VW's and all the new ones coming out is something awesome, especially since I own one myself. It is nice to see that other people enjoy Volkswagens and agree that they are well made cars. I know that this blog is a credible source because it was published by Motor Trend. They review all types of cars from little hatch backs like the Golf R to big trucks like Ford F-350's. This is a video of a Golf R with an APR exhaust system and ECU tuning.

Blog 1

My name is Mitch Cole, and I'm from Billerica, Massachusetts. I'm 19 years old and I'm a Sports Management major as well as a freshman here at Nichols College. My only paid job so far is being a bag boy at Market Basket, a job which I hate very much and can't wait to quit. I've done a lot of unpaid work in the sports field, however. I used to write my own Boston Bruins blog before creating my own website to cover Boston sports, where I have two other writers that post for me. I also cover the NHL and MLB for a national sports blog called Chat Sports, and I also interview CEO's of emerging sports tech companies for Chat Sports. I'm a huge sports nut (obviously) and love the Boston Bruins.

Some of the things that many would like to gain from this class are things that I already know and have experience in (blogging, web creations, etc.), but one thing I would like to gain from this class is the skill of photo editing. I've long wanted to include pictures that I've edited in my blogs and articles, and would like to learn how to do so in this class.

A credible blog that interests me is one that I've been reading for quite a while now and one that also has a strong influence on my own writing. The Boston Bruins blog Days Of Y'Orr is a blog written by four Bruins fans, one of whom I have met as we both have attended multiple Bruins home games as credentialed members of the media, which is what makes this blog credible. Their writing is informative, but at the same time very different and refreshing for me as I have grown pretty sick of the same old stuff every journalist spits out to get their paycheck. They include many pictures that they photoshop and add a witty (albeit crude as well) humor to their articles, a style which rubbed off on me when I was trying to find my own unique writing style shortly after I began writing.

1st blog, go Ray lewis

My name is Brian Pliego. I am from Chelsea, MA. Here at Nichols College I am a criminal justice major. I am a freshman but on his second semester so I feel I learned the ropes when it comes to being successful here. There are a ton of things I don’t know about here but time will show all in the end. I finished my first semester with a 2.7 GPA. It seems low but it could have been a lot worse. I had on my report card an A, B, B, B, B, and a C. That one C messed it all up but that’s the story of my schooling career. I’ve always had that one grade to take away my honor roll. I still get congratulations from my parents and all but I know they are disappointed inside.  My Parents are Hispanic. My dad is from Mexico while my mom is from Colombia. It’s a pretty rare thing here to be Hispanic. I’ve met a few more of my race here but the majority is white. I'm having a good time here, its way better than being in Chelsea. Most people don’t know where my city is. To make it easier I usually say it’s just across the Tobin Bridge from Boston. Everyone knows Boston.

This class totally caught me off guard. I thought it was a math class and it turns out were blogging. I can’t complain really, I dislike math in all my years of being a student. This is a fair change of scenery for me though. I know nothing about computers for an 18 year old in today’s society. Blogging is totally new to me also. I’ve heard a lot about it and i know there are some hardcore update everyday bloggers out there. What I hope to get out of this class is a good understandment of what else the internet has to offer. I didn’t know you can make a free blog BOOM learned something new. I hope my interest doesnt die out in this class. Just have to keep pushing and ill be ok.

I have an intrest in the sports community and am looking forward to some sports blogs. I seem to have found a few on ESPN which intrest me. This man Mike Sando is a journalist for ESPN. He's writing a piece on the development of the San Fransico 49'ers. Its a football team located in California and is also a participant to the superbowl. Thats the biggest thing to happen every year for football. The blog is very informative and accurate. He knows what he's saying which is a good thing for a journalist for a big company like ESPN. Here on the side is Ray Lewis. Any blog about the upcoming superbowl has this man as the biggest threat. Feel free to decide for yourself with the video He is the man who will lead the Baltimore Ravens to beat the 49'ers.

Jaime's First Blog

My name is Jaime Lee Miglionico and I am currently a freshman in my second semester at Nichols College. I am a psychology major and I have very high hopes of one day becoming a child psychologist. I live in Dudley, Massachusetts with my mom, dad, and younger sister, Jordan.  I also have two Bernese Mountain dogs, Lily and Jasmine, and they are both considered part of my family.

Last year, as well as over the summer, I spent my time working at a law office in Douglas, Massachusetts, where I answered phone calls, made copies, and filed papers. Unfortunately, working at the office didn't fit into my schedule with school so I took up a babysitting job instead. Before I head to class every day, I babysit a three year old girl and spending time with her is the best way to start my day. In my spare time, I like to hang out with my friends and family, watch movies, listen to music, and read books by my favorite author, Jodie Picoult. My all-time favorite movie is Titanic and my favorite color is pink

Overall, I hope that over the period of this course, I gain a broader general knowledge of technology, as well as enhance my computer skills. I am somewhat familiar with computers, but there is still a lot of things I do not know. Specifically, I would like to learn how to put together a powerpoint. I know how to use the program, however, I do not know how to utilize all of the effects it has to offer.

Looking into different blogs, I couldn't help but keep in mind my new interest in cooking and trying new recipes. Recently, my mom was diagnosed with an allergy to wheat. As a family, we have been trying different recipes and meals to help her stay healthy. I have become extremely interested in cooking and trying out new things. After a little bit of research, I was able to find a credible cooking blog through the Food Network entitled FN Dish. This blog provides popular news, tips, and recipes to readers and those who are interested in gaining knowledge about the cooking industry. This blog is credible because it is created by the Food Network which is a world-wide network composed of experts who specialize in the field of food and cooking. This blog has been a particular help to me as I continue to look for new ways to help my mom live a healthier lifestyle.

Anthony Wilga's Blog #1

My name is Anthony Wilga. I have lived in Dudley Massachusetts my entire life in the same house.  Family is everything to me and I have a huge family to prove that they come firs Ever since I was born I have been into sports. I like football, baseball, and basketball. My favorite out of the three definitely would have to be football. I started playing when I was 6. When I got to High School at Shepherd Hill Regional High School I was pulled up to varsity my freshman year to play football. My junior and senior year I was named Massachusetts All-Star. My senior year I was named to the Shriner's All Star game. My first job was working at Pools Cues and Spas Too in Auburn, Ma. It is a pool store and it was a lot of hard work of carrying heavy loads of chemicals and supplies. My new job is working at Primerica Financial Services. It has to do with Life Insurance and investing people's money. It took me 5 times to pass the Life Insurance test, but I finally did it. I am really looking forward to making some good money with this business.  If things work out for me at Primerica I am hoping that that’s what I can do with the rest of my life.   I am currently a freshman at Nichols College where I am majoring in Accounting. When I'm not going to class or working I like to go fishing, go bowling, or hangout with my friends. From this Digital Apps course I hope to better understand Microsoft Excel. Excel is used a lot in Accounting and I need to get a better understanding on how to use it and what exactly it offers to me. A blog that really interests me is The College Football Nation Blog. This blog is definitely credible because it is run by ESPN's journalist Adam Rittenberg. This blog talks about college football's biggest news stories and the latest news on players going into the NFL. I'd rather watch college football over any sport. I am a huge Alabama Crimson Tide fan. I have been ever since I was born because my father's uncle went to Alabama and was an offensive guard for them and started in the Orange Bowl.

Running Through Life (Katie Tupaj 1st post)

My name is Katelyn Daley Tupaj and I was born on the middle of a hail storm on May 23, 1994. I consider Thompson, CT to be my home town. I graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School last June and am now a freshmen at Nichols College. All of my life, the black and white world of logic has made much more sense than the artistic side of things; that being said I chose to major in Secondary Math Education and minor in accounting. Numbers have just always made sense to me. Not only have I been obsessed with numbers my whole life, but also the education aspect. When I was little I used to make a school bus out of the dining room chairs, drive my stuffed animals to "school", and teach them everything I had learned that day at school.

Around the same age, I would always practice stop, dropping, and rolling just in case there was ever a fire. My parents were hoping I wasn't a crazy little kid and decided to enroll me in dance classes when I was four and a half. For twelve years I danced at Wendy's Dance Studio in Webster, MA. Because of dance classes, I had the pleasure of meeting my roommate years before we were even thinking about colleges. Unfortunately, the studio closed June of 2010 and after that, I stopped dancing.

Besides dance, I run and was a cheerleader. I started running in fifth grade. Ever since then, I have done cross-country, cheerleading, and track in high school. Coming to Nichols, I was originally on the cheerleading team, but I quickly realized it just wasn't for me. I switched over to the cross-country team and found my niche at Nichols.

My educational journey at Nichols led me to this very class. Because I want to get into education, I am hoping that this class will give me the skills to effectively incorporate technology into the class room after graduation. This includes being proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint to help create assignments, as well as efficiently creating visually stimulating websites to keep assignments accurately posted.

I am very new to blogging and have never really looked around for blogs. I started looking around at different running blogs, first year college survival blogs, and numerous other things, but none of them seemed credible. A lot of them were just personal accounts written by random people that meant nothing to me. Finally I stumbled upon a blog called TalkNerdy2Me. TalkNerdy2Me is a blog about all different issues the average college student would be concerned about such as how to be eco-friendly, fit, and chic while living at school. This blog was put together by The National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

George Balzano 1st post

Hello, my name is George Balzano, and I'm from Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I am a business major here at Nichols college. I transferred from Great Bay Community College, which is in Portsmouth. I worked at Agave Mexican Bistro over the summer as a busboy. It was an interesting time, and I made some pretty decent tips. The thing that separates Agave from other restaurants is it's selection of tequila. It has over 70 different kinds of tequila to try, and hundreds of different margarita's to choose from. It is a popular place to go during the winter, as well as the summer, because it has fire places inside and is a nice, cozy place to eat. I hear a lot of customers say that it is the best Mexican food they have ever had. Something else I like doing during the summer is fishing. I like going out with my father on his boat to fish for Bluefin tuna. This is an elusive creature that is very hard to catch, and can get up to 1000 lbs., but if you do, the profits are big. This past year was a good season, and a lot of tuna were caught. I am not the most computer savvy person, so with this course I hope I will learn to be more versatile on the computer. I want to be able to do more with a computer, and be faster with it too.

This Oceans 4 Ever blog is about a man, Richard Theiss, who films sharks for a living, and is an advocate to the conservation of sharks. He loves them, and shows people that sharks are important in keeping the ocean's ecosystem healthy. This blog explains that people's fear for sharks are making it easier for people to kill them off, because they are a hated creature. Richard tells people the truth, that sharks are just a predator of the sea, and are only doing what they have always done. They should not be feared and killed, but respected. This blog is creditable because it is done by a shark enthusiast and expert. This blog interests me because I have always been interested with oceanic wildlife, and I do think that the killing of sharks and other ocean creatures needs to be stopped.

My First Post

Hello, my name is Stephen Hewston and I am a history education major at Nichols College. I'm currently working in the heating, ventilation, and cooling trade in my home state of Connecticut. My plans are to only do this and any other trade work I can to attain the most knowledge I can.  I enjoy learning and knowing all I can of anything I can. After I am able to attain my degree in teaching history I plan to join the armed forces either in the National Guard for schooling reasons, but my main goal is to join the navy during or after College while I search for a high school that is looking for the best new history teacher they can find.
There are quite a few things I like about Bloomberg BusinessWeek’s blog. Mainly I felt that the colors gave it a clean cut and very sleek look. It is very multifaceted blog with many places to go and things to look at. The very simple with the slide show and short writings give a quick and fun reading.
Unlike BusinessWeek’s, inc.com’s blog was very bright and clean looking. The blog is very busy and has a lot of movement. This draws in readers and encourages them to stay on the site. In many of the titles, to further draw people in, they are filled with catch words like cool, brilliant, and young.
The most different of these three blogs is the Forbes blog. It is very simple and strait forward. There are very little frills. There is only one picture but it does allow the reader to focus on the reading instead. However, they still are linking certain things so that people can read further.
All these illustrate all the different ways that a blog could be created. All the different amounts of writing and pictures, can create a totally new look and feel.

Andre Rickerson's 1st Blog

I am Andre Rickerson from Boston, Massachusetts. I went to East Boston High School and I graduated in 2012. I am 18 years old. I worked last summer at the Boston Kroc Center as a athletic trainer. I'm a Freshman at Nichols College. I'm a sports management major. I play football for Nichols College as well. I hope I learn how to blog from this course and any other assignments we do in this course. I also want to be more educated involving with computers since we need them in everyday basis. I look forward to this class since its a required course for freshmen.
I am a big time New England Patriots fan, and I am still upset from the disappointing loss from Sunday. I don't know how many times Ive been angry from the Patriots. I'm reading a blog about how Tom Brady apologized to Ed Reed for sliding into him when he sled to avoid contact. I respect Tom Brady for that, because even though he loss, he still had the thought of that one play to come back and say sorry for something that he could of said nothing about. I don't like the fact that the NFL is trying to fine Brady for his act that wasn't even that serious, but I guess nobody gets the special treatment in the NFL.
I'm also read an blog about the Patriots re-signing Wes Welker. I think the Patriots should definitely go after him because he is a major contributor in the Patriots offense. He holds a lot of records right now and for him to just go to another team would be a major loss in the Patriots organization. He has 5 seasons with 100 catch seasons with the Patriots and Tom Brady throws the ball to him a lot. Him being this good is going to make his contract worth more money. You play good and then you get payed good. I'm pretty sure the Patriots will re-sign him due to what he does on the field. Now that the NFL season is basically over for me, I look forward to the Boston Celtics to make it far in the NBA season. I'm just an Boston sport fan.
